Hi, I’m Dr. Vanessa Joachin!

I am a bilingual (English/Spanish) psychologist candidate who provides warm, attachment-focused care for individuals and families from pregnancy through early childhood. My work is relational and trauma-informed, integrating development, attachment, intergenerational patterns, and culture to support meaningful, lasting change. I am passionate about affirming, inclusive care for families of all structures and proudly welcome families within the LGBTQIA+ and Spanish-speaking communities.

I earned my B.S. from George Mason University, a Masters in Public Health from Tulane University, and my PhD in Counseling Psychology from Colorado State University. I completed specialized training in perinatal mental health through my work with Children’s Hospital Colorado and Early Childhood Partners, and advanced infant–early childhood mental health training during my pre-doctoral internship on the Tulane University School of Medicine Infant Mental Health Team. My clinical approach draws on advanced training in Perinatal Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), Mother–Infant Therapy Group (M-ITG), Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP), Circle of Security-Parenting (COS-P), Preschool PTSD Treatment (PPT), and Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT).

At Family Milestones Psychology, I partner with caregivers to provide clear, compassionate care — heart to heart, step by step.
